Knowledge = Power, Prevention and tracking the Monkeypox State of Emergency

California is working urgently across all levels of government to slow the spread of monkeypox, leveraging our robust testing, contact tracing and community partnerships strengthened during the pandemic to ensure that those most at risk are our focus for vaccines, treatment and outreach,” said Governor Newsom. “We’ll continue to work with the federal government to secure more vaccines, raise awareness about reducing risk, and stand with the LGBTQ community fighting stigmatization.

On August 1, 2022 Governor Newsom Proclaims State of Emergency to Support State’s Response to Monkeypox.

At this time, the response is NOT a “shut down” order.
It’s about knowledge, prevention and resource development for vaccines.

Obviously, California Beauty Professionals are concerned about another industry shut down like we experienced during 2020/2021 and Covid-19. At this time, we know of no such plans to shutter our industry and will keep in constant contact with the state agencies to keep beauty professionals informed. As with most things in life, knowledge is power. And with that, it also provides us with the information to make prevention a priority.

With regard to vaccines, by our age poll of members of the California Estheticians • Esthetician Advocacy group on Facebook, about 75% were NOT born prior to 1972 when they stopped and made optional the small pox vaccine.

You would have been vaccinated if you travel to/from developing nations where the disease may have been detected or served in the military.

If you have concern, please reach out and discuss with your primary care provider.

Folks and fam in the LGBTQIA+ Community, we got you.
We all have skin, and we all can be affected.
And that’s why prevention is essential.
